Prompt for this run

Build an interactive 3D 3 by 3 Rubik's Cube using the provided Three.js library. Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as needed. Write it to `index.html` in the current working directory using your file tools. Inline your own CSS and JavaScript. Do not use external assets, CDNs, or network requests. Use the provided `three.min.js` (global `THREE`) through a plain local script tag; the runner will inline it into the final artifact. Required behavior: - Start solved, with six distinct face colors and visible cubie boundaries. Preserve cubie and sticker state through moves; recoloring a static cube is not sufficient. - Provide visible buttons for U, D, L, R, F, B quarter turns and their inverses. Animate each move and queue or disable further moves until it completes so state is not corrupted. - Dragging the background orbits the camera without turning a face. Keep the cube fully visible initially and support bounded wheel zoom. - Provide Scramble, applying a sequence of legal turns, and Reset to restore the solved cube and initial camera. - Only core global THREE is provided; implement camera controls without importing unavailable addons. A solver is not required. Verify: Turn one face and apply its inverse, checking that the visible stickers return to their starting arrangement. Orbit the camera to inspect the cube from another angle, then use Reset and check the solved appearance and initial framing.

**Creating a file**

I need to make a file, and first things first, I'll inspect what's available to me. There might be existing files I can work with or templates that could save some time. I want to ensure I’m not reinventing the wheel unnecessarily. I wonder what tools or formats I might consider as I move forward with this task. It's essential to get everything set up correctly from the start!

**Designing 3D UI Elements**

I’m focusing on implementing attractive 3D UI controls using cubie meshes with a dark body and sticker meshes on their faces. I'll need to carefully group the cubies, animate, and then detach them to snap into position while preserving the sticker layouts. The design involves 26 cubes aligned to grid coordinates, with sticker surfaces positioned just outside the body. I’ll ensure the geometry has visible boundaries and is properly grouped for movement and animation.**Managing Cubie Orientation**

I’m working on maintaining the orientation of each cubie's stickers while accumulating the cubie quaternion discretely. After rotating, I plan to normalize the final quaternion and snap its position to the nearest 0 or ±1 for the rotational matrices. It seems I could preserve exact values through quaternion rotation multiplication. Additionally, I’ll need to compute the cubie's position and handle the pivot transformations correctly to maintain world transforms when reparenting the scene. Floating accumulation could cause a drift over time, so I'll be mindful of that.**Updating the Pivot Matrix**

I'm focusing on updating the pivot matrix at the end of each turn by using `pivot.updateMatrixWorld`. After that, I'll attach the cubie to the scene and round the cube's position while keeping the quaternion the same. I'll reset the pivot rotation and consider using a group for the scene hierarchy, ensuring the selected cube's children are preserved when attaching. By doing this, the pivot will remain at the origin, and I can add turn animations to render smoothly. I'll also pay attention to face mappings and movement directions.

**Adjusting lighting for colors**

I'm noticing a visual mismatch with colors showing up as white, pink, and light blue due to the intense lighting and tone mapping. I need to achieve more vivid and normal colors. The current settings are altering the expected ACES values, making the materials look washed out. I might have to lower the light intensities or turn off tone mapping altogether to get the right saturation. It feels like adjusting ambient and directional lights is essential for achieving the desired color balance!**Verifying screenshot details**

I’m looking at a screenshot of a cube that fills the available stage, and it seems to occupy the center well, with a height of 580 on a stage that’s 670. This looks comfortable, but I need to double-check the orientation to ensure it turns correctly and the orbit resets properly. I’ll click the U key and wait to inspect the screenshot for any details that might need adjustment or verification!

**Evaluating animation status**

I find it interesting that the state count is at 0 while the animation is running and the status is good. I'm thinking about clicking the inverse after the complete wait, but only using browser tools for that. It might be a good idea to inspect after some time. I could also click Uprime at the coordinates x1020 and y151. The browser probably frames the time elapsed, so I can track it!

**Adjusting tone mapping settings**

I'm looking at the tone mapping settings for ACES. The exposure is currently set at 1.22 but I'm thinking of reducing it to .85. I want to adjust the ambient lighting intensity to 0.9 and the key light to 2. There's also color brightness to consider. ACES compresses images, so I'll skip that if possible and instead focus on using NoTone with color stickers that contribute emissively, ensuring the darker face orientation is maintained.**Testing color and interactions**

I'm considering using MeshPhong to achieve vivid colors under lighting. I want to ensure that clicking the button is blocked while it's active, as that's the desired outcome. I'll verify the orbit drag and reset functionality. It seems that the current action reset should only be allowed when it's not busy. Also, I need to pay attention to the color appearance to make it serious, so I might change the lighting and renderer for testing.

**Adjusting color and design**

I'm noticing that the colors are vivid, but they have very dark borders, while the whites are pure white. This contrast looks really good! I need to make sure the colors match in six distinct ways. I should take a screenshot of the vibrant red and blue, but I need the white to have a consistent material facet without shading on top. The internal black is almost pure, which is fine. I’ll also look at the orbit drag test and reset the initial.

**Considering state changes**

It looks like the system changed immediately, showing a ready state with a moved count. The screenshot seems to indicate that the top is now yellow. A turn changed the side stickers to all white. The sides are now orange and blue, likely because the top layer's rotation affects the corners of the sides, while the middle and lower layers remain unchanged. It’s interesting how these changes unfold. I’ll click inverse next.

**Testing Scramble Functionality**

It seems like I should check the arrangement of the initial screenshot, where the left side is solid red and the right side is solid blue. I see that the visual remains the same, but I need to do a scramble test to understand the behavior better. I'm thinking of clicking scramble and keeping an eye on how long the browser takes to reset. After clicking, I can inspect the status to ensure everything's working correctly. I want to make sure the function behaves as expected during resets.**Verifying Browser Mechanics**

I'm considering whether I should wait for the browser motion to finish, as it might record frames. While it’s not strictly necessary since we have time, it's good to check for any console errors, though only GPU warnings show up. I need to verify the current file for any unwanted elements. I've confirmed some issues with sticker positioning, and while the cube floats, the design stage looks nice. I want to ensure the interaction works smoothly, especially regarding button face order and state positions.**Checking Orientation and Errors**

I’m analyzing the orientation quaternion precision when making repeated turns. Using `scene.attach`, I’m aware that matrix decomposing might introduce tiny errors, so normalizing seems good. The body occupies a size of .985, while the stickers are at .5015. I find that the external face gap is .009, which creates a visually dark outline, and the stickers' width is .76 with face limits of ± .38, which looks excellent. Also, I’ve confirmed the turn timing and reset functionalities are working as expected.

**Evaluating scramble functionality**

I see that the scramble function is active, and the move count is increasing. It looks like it's showing four moves, but I'm not sure if that's actually correct since it says three? The reset option is disabled as it was designed to be. Maybe I'll wait and see if I can use the browser inspect tool later to dig into this further. There’s a lot to sort out here!

Implemented the self-contained 3D Rubik’s Cube in `index.html` using the provided local `three.min.js`. Checked in the browser: a U turn followed by U′ restored the visible sticker arrangement; dragging orbited the camera without turning a face; Scramble animated a sequence of turns; and Reset restored the solved cube and initial framing. No application JavaScript errors appeared. Bounded wheel zoom and mobile layout remain unverified.
